What Is Happening In The Mental Health Industry?

Although many financial cuts have been made to the Mental Health Industry there are still many research studies. Many of these studies are geared toward understanding PTSD. This is the abbreviation of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. We have seen a tremendous rise in this disorder which affects many of our returning veterans. It is hoped that this research will aid in treating this stress disorder.

Addiction is also heavily researched. Scientists are trying to find new drugs and new ways to fight alcoholism, drug addiction and the many phobias that trouble a high percentage of our population.

Unfortunately this has spawned a severe problem in the health care industry. That problem is healthcare fraud. Psychiatrists seem to be the ones that have created fraud in filing false or inflated Medicare insurance claims. This type of fraud is not limited to the United States but is occurring in Australia and Germany.

While psychiatry can be most helpful it appears that they are issuing a large number of prescription drugs to their patients. Again, while drugs can help in some cases, it is now being reported they are prescribing drugs to ASDHD children that have not been thoroughly tested. Anti-psychotic drugs have caused deaths and thousands of children have died from other psychiatric drugs. In addition it has been found that a high percentage of the children and teens that commit acts of violence in school are on psychiatric drugs.

Another danger are proposals to screen students for mental illness with no real facts or reasons.
