Anxiety can happen to anyone, from children to teens to adults and even senior citizens. Anxiety is caused by stress. Stress can be caused by arguments with parents, siblings or friends. Marriage problems, often caused by financial problems, cause anxiety. If you are unhappy in you job or are having trouble getting along with a fellow employee or your boss, this can cause stress on a daily level.
You must get your anxiety under control as it can cause physical problems. If your primary physicians feel your condition is too severe for them to handle, they will send you to a psychologist. There are prescription drugs that you can take, including Valium, Xanax and Ativan. These are short term drugs and must be taken under supervision of a qualified physician.
Before your anxiety gets to the point of needing drugs, and you or your spouse recognize the onset of anxiety, you can start a regimen of things to fend it off. Sometimes just talking with another person about how you are feeling and what is frustrating you will bring out the real problem. If you feel you cannot confide in a family member, talk with your minister or physician. There is a lot of tension and anxiety in our country now due to the economy and the health care debate. Try to not listen to doom and gloom. You can discuss different opinions but respect the opinions of others. Laughter is the best medicine. It is an old cliché but it still works. Joke and laugh with people who have happy personalities.
