Anxiety

Anxiety is a psychological and physiological characteristic that we may all experiences one time or another. It consists of different types of emotional and behavioral components. These components once combined create an unpleasant feeling, which is feeling uneasy, fear and sometimes worry.

When dealing with stress, anxiety is a normal reaction. It may help you deal with a difficult situation as well as hinder you. When anxiety becomes excessive it is called "anxiety disorder."

There are a several different types of anxiety disorders such as panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety disorder. It doesn’t matter whether you are faced with a problem or making an important decision in your life, anxiety is normal for most of us.

Some of the symptoms of these disorders are a feeling of panic, fear and uneasiness, obsessive thoughts that are uncontrollable, nightmares, dry mouth, muscle tension, shortness of breath, cold or hot sweats of hands or feet, and problems sleeping.

Fortunately there are several ways to treat anxiety disorders. Some mild forms of anxiety can be helped with counseling services. More sever forms need to be treated with a combination of medication and counseling from a professional. If you have anxiety more than occasionally, it is best to consult your physician.
