When it comes to recovering from a mental disorder, there are no clear answers as to whether or not a person will ever be able to function without medications that help control the symptoms of this disorder. Many experts will say that those who have the best possible chance for a full recovery are those who seek treatment early on and are prescribed the right medications.
There are many keys to recovering from a mental disorder. One is with the right medications, psychotherapy, group therapy sessions and/or hypnotherapy. The importance of believing in oneself is also crucial to a full recovery.
Of course, there are different types of mental disorders and the more severe they are, the harder they may be to overcome. With that being said, those who have support from family and friends who are willing to stand beside them through the highs and lows are definitely adding value and self esteem and that is exactly what is needed through this journey.
Those who are open about their mental illness and willing to admit that they have a problem are already half way on their way to recovery. Many times people will need to stay on certain medications for life but are still able to function and have great relationships. When a person has a mental disorder, many times their social and personal relationships fail.
There are many organizations that offer support and help along the road to recovery but ultimately it is up to each individual to stay on track so that recovery is possible.
