Mental Health

Educating the general public about the meaning and realities of mental health is the main goal of Mental Health America. For anyone who is having a difficult time or who may be finding themselves in a time of need, it is crucial to seek help in either finding treatment, support groups or medication. If you or anyone you know is going through a crisis, you can call 1-800-273-TALK.

There was a time in the past when people’s lives were shattered from mental illnesses and there was no help nor treatment for them. In fact, some would even commit suicide. Nowadays, there is so much more hope. There are treatments and medications for all kinds of mental illnesses. There are also preventative methods out there for anyone that may need them as well.

Mental health is important from every stage of life. It is vital all the way from early childhood to adolescence and throughout adulthood. Our mental health determines how we react to every day situations and how we get along with others. It is normal to experience feelings of anxiousness, depression or sadness, but when these feelings are so severe that they interrupt daily living, it can make life very difficult and also make it hard to make friends or even just enjoy life. It is no one's fault if they suffer from mental illness. Most importantly, though, is it cannot go away by itself. Thankfully, many mental illnesses are treatable and those sufferers can return to a relatively normal life.
