Well, here we are, New Year's Eve, and another New Year's resolution will be made. This is the time of year that almost everyone decides to do something to change their lives. The resolutions are made, now how do we keep them? It is a known fact that 90% of us have given up by March 1st because our goals were not realistic.
Setting realistic goals is the main thing to do. If you want to lose 40 pounds by March 1st, you know that is almost impossible. Make your goals consist of several small goals that you know you can reach. Give yourself a break, you need to succeed so make it possible. When it comes to weight loss, break down the main goal by 5 or 10 pounds at a time, then when you drop those pounds, it is a goal accomplished. Add some reasonable exercise goals and as you accomplish those goals, you will also improve your chances of success with the weight loss.
The same ideas apply to your work. If you are self employed it is essential that you have goals, but they must be attainable goals. Don't start the New Year by deciding to make a million dollars this year. Instead make the resolution to increase your revenue by $500.00 each month. Then make a plan that helps you do this. Keep a journal so you will be the only thing holding you back. It sounds simple but remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Be realistic, succeed, then give yourself a pat on the back.
